A large loaf of bread requires a long cut to make an even slice, whereas a freshly baked breakfast roll does not need such long strokes. That’s why GLOBAL bread knives come with blades between 15 and 22 centimetres long, with longer breads using a cutting board, and smaller buns simply being cut in the hand.
Perhaps contrary to common sense, however, a bread knife is also suitable for other jobs. The serrated blade makes it ideal for chopping chocolate or cutting through the hard rinds of melons, for example. The bread knife is perfect for cutting all types of bread but also cutting pies, cakes and recipes with pastry dough, slicing large fruits, such as melon, pineapple and citrus fruit. Cutting vegetables with delicate skins, such as tomatoes and eggplant and chopping chocolate and nuts. Try also carving roasts with a bread knife.
